Lucas : a bit of color

I'm not too sure about the likeness yet, but something's starting to happen.

I'm trying something a little different this time. Usually I start a painting by doing a few preliminary sketches. Once I get one that works I'll transfer it to my support and go from there. No sketches this time. I'm trying to go a bit outside of my comfort zone by just diving right in. Hopefully i'll be able to correct some of the mistakes in the drawing when I start laying in the paint.

Almost there...

I'm trying to stay a bit looser with this one. I'm also using a slightly different palette than usual. There's more work to do on his right eye and I think I'll give him a little bit of an ear tomorrow. The shoulder has to get put on there as well.

Trying to get just a little definition in the face. Still a ton of work to do on the head ,navel, arm and hand... the whole damn thing needs a lot of work.

Slightly More Progress

The ear is nearly done. I'll have to get the sandpaper out to deal with that dust. Being a painter and a slob has some disadvantages.
